The Neighborhood Fishin' Program at Chisholm Park brings the Great Outdoors into the City

Neighborhood Fishin’ - Reel Fun Close to Home

The Neighborhood Fishin’ Program at Chisholm Park brings the great outdoors into the city, providing family fishing opportunities close to home for city-dwelling Texans. Hurst is one of 5 DFW area neighborhood ponds that receive frequent stockings of catfish in summer and rainbow trout in winter, which makes for good fishing throughout the season.

We ask all users to be good stewards of the environment. Please dispose of trash, such as fishing lines, bait containers, etc., in the provided containers. Smoking is not allowed in the park except for the paved parking areas. (Municipal Code 19-3).

TPWD has partnered with the City of Hurst to provide a quality local fishing experience at Chisholm Park. The pond has excellent bank access, while the park has many amenities, including three large picnic pavilions, two playgrounds, an aquatics center, and restroom facilities. The TPWD Inland Fisheries Division provides fisheries management expertise and fish for regular stockings. The City of Hurst pays a fee for the stocked fish and maintains the facilities to ensure a quality fishing experience.

A valid freshwater fishing license is required to fish at Chisholm Park unless the angler is 16 years old or younger. Fishing is allowed by pole and line only (no nets or other devices), with a limit of two fishing poles per person. There is no minimum length limit and a 5-fish daily bag limit per angler for both channel catfish and rainbow trout. (Fish species identification chart) There is no minimum length regulation on channel catfish in CFLs. Stocking dates are subject to change because of weather and fish availability.

Neighborhood Fishin'The fish stocking plan consists of stockings of channel catfish or rainbow trout. Channel catfish are stocked from mid-April until early November, except for August. Rainbow trout are stocked from late November through late February.

Neighborhood Fishin’ receives statewide support from Toyota, the Texas Bass Classic Foundation, and the Sport Fish Restoration Program. To learn more about Neighborhood Fishin’, please call 817-732-0761. You may also check out their fishing video on YouTube.
