EMTThe Hurst Fire Department is constantly growing and improving its personnel and equipment.

In 1972 there were 19 certified emergency medical technicians with a private ambulance response.

In 1975 we gained our first paramedic and in 2024, we have 44 firefighter paramedics, two first line Medical Intensive Care Unit ambulances and one in reserve. Each MICU is equipped as a remote emergency room and provides stabilization care until the patient is turned over to the hospital. Each first aid request will involve an engine company with 3 persons and a MICU with 2 paramedics.

The Hurst Fire Department is committed to providing the best emergency medical care possible through equipment, training and personnel. All new recruits must be a certified paramedic.

City Implements Ambulance Subscription Service

AmbulanceThe City of Hurst is offering citizens an ambulance subscription service to help offset the high costs of emergency ambulance transportation. Insurance companies routinely do not pay the entire amount of ambulance transportation, leaving the patient with the responsibility of paying the balance of the bill. The purpose of the subscription service is to cover the amount not covered by your insurance provider or Medicare. If a person does not have health care insurance, this program covers emergency medical services delivered prior to hospital arrival. For $75 per year per family, you will never have to worry about paying an ambulance bill. Medicaid Recipients are not eligible for this program.

2025 Ambulance Subscription Service enrollment will begin November 1, 2024 and runs through December 31, 2024.
