Powers and Duties

There is hereby created a board to be known as the Library Board.

- Hurst Code of Ordinances, Sec. 11-16

It shall be the duty of the Hurst Library Board to:

Act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the Hurst Library Program.
Study and encourage development of adequate library facilities for the residents of the City.
Recommend policies on library service for approval by the City Council.
Advise in coordinating library service with the programs of other governmental agencies and voluntary organizations from time to time.
Assist in interpreting the policies and functions of the library to the public.
Solicit for the library, gifts, revenues, bequests, endowments of money or property, subject to the approval and acceptance of the City Council.

Number of Members: Seven (7) regular members
Quorum: Majority
Term: Two years for regular members
Meetings: Quarterly - Third Tuesday of the month at the Hurst Public Library at 5:30 PM and as needed.
