 Jimmy Meeks became a member of the City Council on May 9, 2023. Jimmy grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas. He moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1979 where he attended Oklahoma Baptist University. While there he also served as a police officer for Shawnee. He graduated OBU with a Bachelor's Degree in Religion.

Jimmy moved to Texas in 1985. Soon thereafter, he became a police officer in Hurst. He retired from the Hurst Police Department in December of 2015. During his tenure with the department, he served as a school resource officer (SRO) at Hurst Junior High. In 2006, he was transferred to the community services division, where he served as a Crime Prevention Officer.

At age 16, Jimmy was licensed to the ministry. From 1994 through September of 2005, he was pastor of a church in Burleson.

Since 2009, Jimmy has traveled the country conducting safety seminars for churches. He has led in over 400 such seminars in 40 states.

Jimmy and his wife were married in 1977. They have six children and five grandchildren.

Jimmy and Julie have lived in Hurst since the Spring of 1986.
