FROM THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR
The support of the Friends has a rich tradition in Hurst. Their assistance has contributed greatly to providing quality library service to area residents. Their contributions have certainly enhanced the Library’s efforts at providing educational, cultural, and recreational services to our community. They have been instrumental in supporting the “leading edge” projects such as video, microcomputers, RFID technology, a Friends café, large print materials, and adult literacy, just to name a few. In continuing this fine tradition, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join the Friends organization. By becoming a Friend, you become involved in an association that can make a difference in our quality of life! |

THE FRIENDS
The Friends of Hurst Public Library is a voluntary non-profit organization of those interested in helping to build and maintain public support for the Library. The Friend’s organized in the mid-1960’s and have played a vital role in the development and growth of the Library and its services over the years.
The Library’s move from its site on Mary Drive in 1980 to its present site was the result of the Friends active campaigning for the success of the bond referendum in 1977. Two expansions later, the Hurst Public Library is now over 50,000 square feet. The Friends have contributed to the enhancement of services offered by the Library, as well. Copy machines available for public use, sponsorship of Reading Clubs Contributions towards RFID technology, the addition of Vending machines and contributions towards furnishing the Friend’s Cafe and other programs are among the services provided by funds from the Friends.
Membership is open to anyone who supports the goals of this organization. Join today and share the future!
