Hurst Library Children's Department

Hurst Library's Youth Services Team maintains a wide variety of materials and programs for children from birth through high school and their parents to promote a love for books, learning, literacy, and just plain fun.

Reading

Reading programs are available year-round to encourage a healthy diet of books. Below are our currently active reading programs for children:

 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program

Who: Children from birth until they enter kindergarten

What: Read to your child any book...from home, library books, books read at storytime…any book counts! Read a book, once or a hundred times!

When: Anytime!  However long it takes to get to 1000!

Where: Any place: storytime, caregiver’s home, grandparents

How: Tap the REGISTER button above, scroll down to the "Challenges" section of the HEB Reading Challenges website, then tap to "Register an Individual or Family." Once set up, just log the number of books read to earn badges and prizes by logging books!
