The Community Services Section of the Hurst Police Department is responsible for providing the citizens of Hurst with programs designed to enhance their quality of life. This section conducts Town Hall meetings, neighborhood Crime Watch meetings, Citizen's Police Academy, bicycle patrols, domestic violence programs and special needs assistance.
Many of the programs are geared towards educating the community on what steps can be taken to deter the occurrence of crime. To contact Community Services, call (817) 788-7342. The Community Services Unit has one storefront office outside of the main police department. It is located inside the NorthEast Mall, by the children's play area.
Citizens Police Academy

Project Child Safe
Project Child Safe is a program to help ensure safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage, sponsored by the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, Texas.
The Hurst Police Community Services Division distributes gunlocks to the citizens of Hurst at no cost. These locks should be used in addition to, not substituted for, safe firearm handling and storage. These cable locks should fit most firearms. Instructions and safe handling tips are available in English and Spanish. Locks may be obtained by contacting the Police Department, Community Services Division at 817.788.7342.
