Good Neighbor Tips from Code Compliance

At the City of Hurst, our goal is to be a helpful resource for you and your neighbors. We are all about keeping our city clean and safe while preserving the property values.

Here are some tips to help us preserve these values and help your entire neighborhood:

  • Keep weeds and grass shorter than eight inches in height. This will help prevent overgrowth in our neighborhoods.
  • Maintain your garbage to prevent accumulation as this may become a fire hazard or become a menace to healthy, safety, or welfare. Got too much garbage? Take it to one or our free Landfill days happening the second Saturday of the month from February through November at 7 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. You can take your non-hazardous items to Republic Service’s Arlington Landfill for FREE! For more information, visit hursttx.gov/trash.
  • Take pride in your property maintenance! Keeping your buildings and grounds in a clean and safe condition prevents declining property value. This includes keeping exteriors in good repair.
  • Follow the regularly scheduled trash and recycling pickup times for your neighborhood. Trash and recycling should be placed in the prescribed locations no later than 7 a.m. on the day of scheduled collection and not more than 12 hours before collection.
  • Regular maintenance for pools or other water receptacles so that it doesn’t become a health concern for neighbors.
  • Keep your property free of inoperative vehicles for more than 48 hours.
